Project Overview
Africa university chemistry lab furniture project
This is a university chemistry teaching laboratory project in Africa, built for undergraduate chemistry practical courses. The lab adopts multiple groups of central island benches and side wall benches, supporting simultaneous group experiments for batches of students.
The whole lab furniture system is customized to adapt to local hot climate. High wear-resistant worktop and robust full steel cabinet can withstand frequent daily operation by students.
This lab project serves the chemistry department of a public university in Africa. The space supports undergraduate practical courses covering general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and analytical chemistry. Teaching labs have unique features: many student workstations, frequent group experiments and clear budget limits. Our team designed and supplied a full set of university chemistry lab furniture to support daily teaching and student practical training.
The main workstation is multi-student [lab island bench]. One bench can accommodate four to six students running experiments at the same time. We selected phenolic resin worktop for the surface, which tolerates splashes of dilute acid, alkali and common organic solvents during student operations. Heavy-duty steel frames with anti-corrosion powder coating support glassware, heating mantles and teaching instruments. Every student station has independent water taps, sinks and power sockets to support synchronized group operations.
[PP reagent rack] is installed in the middle of each island bench to hold small reagent bottles for class experiments. Separate PP storage cabinets at the lab side store concentrated acid and alkali, managed uniformly by teachers. Several PP fume hoods are placed in lab corners for high-risk operations such as concentrated acid digestion and volatile organic reactions. Teachers can guide students inside hoods to lower safety risks.
Layout planning reserved wide walkways between benches. These passages help teachers patrol student operations and support emergency evacuation if chemical spills occur. All furniture adopts modular assembly design. It simplifies on-site installation, which is helpful because local construction teams often lack specialized lab fitting workers. Assembly drawings and installation videos are sent together with the cargo to guide local teams.
Budget control is a key factor for university teaching procurement. We balanced safety, durability and cost. We avoided over-specification that creates unnecessary expense while ensuring countertops, racks and fume hoods meet chemistry teaching safety standards. This lab is now running regular practical lessons. Teachers comment that anti-corrosion surfaces are easy to clean after class, and student stations work well for group teaching.
We have delivered biology, physics and chemistry lab renovation projects for many African universities. If you work in university procurement or educational engineering and need chemistry teaching lab furniture, share classroom size, student capacity and experiment syllabus. We can prepare a suitable layout plan and quotation for your teaching laboratory.
